Since 1919, for over eight decades the Business and Professional Women/USA (BPW/USA) has worked on your behalf – women helping women. Today, together through advocacy, education and training the Cherry Creek Business Professional Women’s Network (CCBPW) continues to help bring this collective power of women helping women to ALL of Colorado’s workingwomen.
As a BPW/USA, CCBPW member you benefit and share this power by connecting with mentors, colleagues, and friends that allow you to thrive professionally; as a member you have the access and power to stay informed on the latest legislative, business and health issues concerning women; and you have the opportunity to share your power and celebrate the success of others by participating in monthly and annual events promoting the business success, education and self-sufficiency of ALL workingwomen.
Workingwomen and self-sufficiency go hand-in-hand – self-sufficiency patterns and concerns in the United States directly overlap the efforts of ALL workingwomen, who represent 60% of the total workforce; wage equity, educational access and poverty trends also relate to the long-term effects and status of workingwomen. For example – in 2004 “the wage gap” in the United States, represented women’s earning power at approximately 76 cents for every dollar paid to their male counterparts – in addition, the wage gap becomes wider for women of color.
Why should the “wage gap” be your concern?
The average workingwomen loses approximately $523,000 to the “wage gap” or wage inequities over her lifetime, consequently the poverty rates in the United States would be cut in half if the wage gap was eliminated! This specific inequity directly impacts the overall health of our economy which is everyone’s concern, not just a women’s concern.
The power of your membership is one way to collectively address these concerns, and celebrate the success and achievements of workingwomen. We will continue to stimulate awareness and promote action through legislation, training, and education – the Cherry Creek Business Professional Women’s Network (CCBPW) is dedicated to your professional, political and personal success and invites you to join us as a member of this national organization with the power to connect, help others and change the workplace!
